An interesting article about a comment for CNN by book-author Douglas Rushkoff.
His thesis is that the Goldman Sachs - Facebook deal is not the beginning of a new star but the first phase of a "cash-out" - to make as much profit as possible from a hype.

I agree that Facebook will lose its hype one day, but we have to give it credit for being as big as it is.
ReplyDeleteThere have been numerous social networking sites in the past and the majority of them have now fell through the cracks - they were more like fads.
Facebook has been unique compared to all the others by its ability to evolve and keep up with changing technologies and user preferences.
Seeing its ability to keep up so well, I don't really see it fading away anytime soon.
